Metrc New Jersey

METRC, which stands for Marijuana Enforcement Tracking and Compliance, is the cannabis governance solution providing end-to-end tracking and tracing for all cannabis supply chain activities to dozens of states in the United States and helping ensure a closed, legal ecosystem.

Managed by the Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC), the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act (CUMMA) was passed on January 18, 2010. This act allows qualifying New Jersey patients to legally use medical marijuana.

Patients may receive permission from a health care professional to order up to 84 grams or equivalent in a 30-day period. Orders must be filled at an Alternative Treatment Center (ATC) or licensed dispensary located in the state of New Jersey.

Legislation legalizing recreational marijuana – The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Enforcement Assistance and Marketplace Modernization ACT (CREAMM Act) – was approved on February 22, 2021 and adopted August 12. This act legalizes possession of 28.35 grams or 1 ounce of usable cannabis for adults over 21.

All cannabis industries in the state of New Jersey must be compliant with Metrc.
