Getting to Know Metrc in South Dakota

South Dakota voters approve Initiated Measure 26, approving cannabis for medical use in 2020. Launched at about the same time, the South Dakota Medical Cannabis Program (SDMC) has been operational ever since.

Building business certification and patient/physician platforms, the SDMC was created by the Departments of Health and Education. To achieve their goals of ensuring public and patient safety, they have reached out to businesses and are also using Metrc as South Dakota’s seed-to-sale tracking system.
