Metrc (Ohio) Bulletin OH_IB_0087 (effective 06/24/2026) introduces a new “Misconfigured” column in the Items grid to help licensees spot missing or incomplete item setup before those items are used in downstream workflows. This article explains what the new column shows, how the visual indicators work, how to sort and filter for problems, how changes are tracked in item History, and what this means for day-to-day cannabis operations.
What changed in Metrc Ohio: a new “Misconfigured” Items grid column
Metrc added a Misconfigured column to the Items grid to improve visibility into item configuration issues and reduce downstream errors. The column appears after the Category column in the Items grid.
This update is designed to help teams catch item setup gaps earlier, before the item is referenced in processes such as package creation and other workflows that depend on accurate item data.
How the Misconfigured status displays for each item
Each item row in the Items grid will show one of two outcomes in the Misconfigured column.
• A red “# Issues” badge (for example, “1 Issue” or “3 Issues”) when the item has configuration problems.
• “No” when the item has no configuration issues.
Operationally, this allows staff to quickly differentiate between items that are ready for use and items that should be corrected before being used to create packages, initiate regulated activity, or proceed with other compliance-sensitive transactions.
Visual indicators: item-level badge and field-level “Missing Data”
Metrc provides two complementary indicators so users can see both the overall status and the exact fields that need attention.
Item-level indicator: The red “# Issues” badge displays the total count of misconfigured fields for that item.
Field-level indicator: The specific cells (fields) that are misconfigured show a “Missing Data” label so users can identify exactly what needs to be updated.
When a misconfigured field is corrected, Metrc updates the “Missing Data” label and recalculates the badge count accordingly.
Sorting and filtering to find misconfigured items faster
The Misconfigured column supports sorting and filtering so teams can isolate items with issues without manually scanning the entire Items grid.
This is especially useful for larger catalogs where incomplete item records can create preventable rework across departments (cultivation, manufacturing, QA, inventory, and compliance) when an item is selected for use and later fails downstream requirements.
History tracking for item configuration corrections
Metrc records misconfigured fields and subsequent updates in the item’s History tab.
Chronological audit trail: History records are displayed in chronological order, creating traceability for when missing configuration data was identified and when it was corrected.
Compliance value: This history can support internal change control, troubleshooting, and readiness for inspections by showing how configuration errors were resolved over time.
Practical implications for day-to-day cannabis operations
Fewer downstream workflow interruptions: Catching item setup problems at the Items grid level helps prevent delays later when teams need to create packages, move inventory, or complete other regulated actions that require properly configured item attributes.
Cleaner handoffs between teams: The badge count and “Missing Data” labels make it easier for staff to route fixes to the right owner (for example, product setup, compliance, or QA) without guesswork.
More consistent master data: Sorting and filtering supports ongoing data hygiene efforts, including periodic reviews of item records and faster cleanup after catalog imports or SKU expansion.
