What Metrc and MCA plan to cover
The webinar agenda is designed to reduce common compliance and workflow issues by addressing how the system works today and where users typically make avoidable mistakes.
• Recent Metrc functionality updates and what they change in daily workflows
• Item creation best practices (how to set up items correctly to prevent downstream receiving, testing, and reporting problems)
• Avoiding common testing errors (data entry and process missteps that frequently trigger rework or corrections)
• Agent badging and admin questions (administrative issues that affect user access and facility readiness)
• Live Q&A and an opportunity to provide feedback
Why this bulletin matters for day-to-day cannabis operations
For Maryland operators, the practical impact is straightforward: teams that align on current Metrc functionality and item setup standards tend to see fewer inventory adjustments, fewer rejected lab submissions due to data issues, cleaner transfers, and fewer internal “fix-it” tickets after the fact.
Item creation guidance is especially operationally important because item definitions often drive how products appear across workflows (including packaging, testing, transfers, and retail configuration). If your items are inconsistent, staff can spend significant time correcting entries, re-labeling, or reconciling mismatches across departments.
Testing-related “common errors” typically cost time and money: they can delay releases, complicate chain of custody, and force last-minute corrections in Metrc. Attending a state-specific webinar is a low-effort way to standardize procedures across cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, and retail teams.

Labeling and Retail ID readiness: where Distru fits
Although this bulletin is about training, the topics covered (item creation accuracy, testing error avoidance, and best-practice workflows) directly affect packaging and retail execution in Metrc. Incorrect item setups and inconsistent identifiers can cascade into label reprints, point-of-sale mapping issues, and avoidable compliance risk.
DistruLabels: DistruLabels is a 100% free tool for creating compliant packaging and retail labels, helping teams produce consistent, scannable labels that support Metrc Retail ID compliance and reduce last-minute labeling errors at the retail counter.
DistruERP: For larger Maryland operations that need end-to-end supply chain management beyond labels, DistruERP is Distru’s comprehensive Cannabis ERP platform, supporting multi-step operational workflows across inventory, manufacturing, distribution, and compliance-driven fulfillment.
